NAR have kicked the fund off with a $1 million contribution.I am proud to report that along with several of our member firms of the Grosse Pointe Board of REALTORS®, we have raised over $10,000 to assist in this relief effort. The Board pledged to match our member contributions up to a maximum of $5,000. That figure was met within two weeks time of the funds establishment."Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the innocent victims of these terrible acts of terror and to the brave fire, law enforcement and emergency personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty." said NAR President Richard Mendenhall. Mendenhall noted that thousands of families victims who own homes may lack mortgage insurance and might lose their homes without outside assistance. Other victims families who rent may not be able to meet future rental costs without help. "Our hope is that none of the families of these victims, who are dealing with a tremendous emotional loss, will also have to suffer the trauma of losing their homes as a result of this terrorist attack." As of October 9th, nationwide contributions total $5,380,739.00. If youd like to contribute to the REALTORS® Housing Relief Fund: Online contributions to https://ecomnet.realtors.org/donation.html.
